Considered the “front line of ACDS” the Family Service Department provides support to parents through service coordination, assisting in development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (ISFP) outlining early intervention services, individual and group counseling, advocacy, community education, parent training, crisis intervention, respite and planning of special events.

Counseling and support groups are also offered to extended family members, including grandparents and siblings.

Bilingual services are also provided.

ACDS’ affiliation with Long Island Jewish-North Shore University Hospital System enables families to access on –site services of developmental pediatricians, pediatric cardiologists and gastroenterologists.

A resident physician with a fellowship in developmental disabilities rotates through ACDS’ early intervention and preschool program.

Pediatric residents also are scheduled for site visitation throughout the year and are assigned to our social workers or nurse.
