I just want to say a few words that I know I will not be able to articulate this afternoon. How do you say goodbye? How do you say goodbye to a place that you have known for years even though your child is only five. A place of magic that looks like any other school from the outside but is so much more.
You have to say goodbye to therapists and teachers that have worked with your baby and know her better than anyone other than yourself. They provide encouragement and support not only to your child, who struggles to do what typical peers can do, but to you the exhausted and anxious parent. It is a staff that sheds tears of joy with you as your child's determination pays off in success.
Most importantly, it is a place where they see your child as a child first. I say goodbye with lots of tears and eternal gratitude.
Thank you ACDS! Thank you for being such a dedicated principal.

With your support, we can continue to assist children and adults with Down syndrome, Autism and other developmental disabilities and their families.
Your contribution can make a difference to a child and family, just like those families in the stories above.
