May 17, 2012, Plainview, New York– ACDS held its most successful golf outing ever on May 10th. The event was sponsored by Monster.com for the second consecutive year. ACDS, located in Plainview, NY is dedicated to providing lifetime resources of exceptional quality, innovation and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities and their families.
More than 200 golfers took to the greens in two locations – the Garden City Country Club and the Hempstead Golf and Country Club. WABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News Long Island correspondent, Kristin Thorne, served as the emcee for the evening’s dinner and awards ceremony, held at Garden City Country Club, following the day of golf.
“Monster is a fervent supporter of ACDS and its important mission of improving the lives of children and adults with disabilities,” said Michael C. Miller, EVP and General Counsel of Monster and member of the ACDS board of directors. “We are proud to be the golf outing sponsor again and to be associated with such a worthwhile cause.”
“We appreciate the golfers coming out to support this outing. All of the fundraising events that we hold during the year are crucial to ACDS continuing to fulfill its mission, especially in light of ongoing government funding cuts.” said Michael M. Smith, Executive Director, ACDS.
Special thanks to the golf committee, which is comprised of board members and ACDS families. “They worked extremely hard to help make the day a success,” said Laura Schaefer, ACDS Development Associate. She also applauded ACDS employees who volunteered and worked on the course all day. “We couldn't have done it without them,” said Schaefer.
