for ACDS Programs
PLAINVIEW, ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, March 12, 2013 — More than 600 guests gathered at the Parish Center in Rockville Centre in celebration of ACDS’ annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on March 2. The event raised $75,000 as hundreds of families, friends and sponsors enjoyed an evening of entertainment with pipers from the New York Metro Pipe Band, Irish dancers from Petri School of Irish Dancing, Irish music by Martin Flynn and delicious catering by Kasey’s Kitchen & Cocktails of Rockville Centre.
This year’s event honored event founder, ACDS parent and former board member Liz Lawlor Campbell of Rockville Centre, as well as ACDS Educational Coordinator Jane Shimkin of Rockville Centre, who joined ACDS in 1994 as a student teacher and todaysupervises the Early Intervention program, as well as consults for students with Down syndrome in the elementary school districts.
The social event also included a silent auction and raffles, with a super raffle prize that included a 5-day trip to Ireland, courtesy of Sceptre Tours in Rockville Centre.
