On August 16th, the Greater Long Island Running Club and title sponsor for the Annual Sands Point Sprint 5K Run/Walk, Lynn, Gartner, Dunne & Covello were pleased to present a check in the amount of $1669.00 to ACDS. This money was raised from donations from the August 6th Sands Point Sprint.

This is the third year that Lynn, Gartner, Dunne & Covello have been the title sponsor of the sprint. The firm, based in Mineola, specializes in Civil and Commercial litigation, Appellate practice, legal ethics and professional practice issues, criminal motions and appeals and business and real estate transactions.

ACDS was the 2017 beneficiary of the Sands Point Preserve Sprint. More than 400 runners participated in the Sprint under sunny skies, racing through the woodlands amid scenic views of the Long Island Sound and Gould’s Castle to support a great cause – enhancing ACDS’ programs and services for individuals with Down syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities.

Many ACDS program participants, family members and staff took part in the race, as well as a ¾ mile fun walk. Teams included participants from ACDS’ 5PLUS Program, which provides recreational and respite services to children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, fostering art, music, athletic, and other skills in a range of social settings.

Among the generous supporters, sponsoring ACDS for the 2017 Sprint were IDP Consulting, Fleet Enterprise Management, LDI Color ToolBox, Kasey’s Kitchen & Cocktails and Corporate Synergies. This year’s race marked the highest attendance for the event in ten years and the first time ACDS has participated.

Commenting on the event, ACDS Executive Director Michael M. Smith said, “We’re very grateful to the Sands Point Preserve for selecting us as charitable beneficiary of the 2017 Sprint. Many thanks to our staff, families and sponsors and everyone who came out to support our agency and the hundreds of individuals we serve across Long Island.”
