Hi, My name is Alex Osuji and I am 3 ½ years old. I live in Queens and I attend the ACDS preschool program everyday.

My Mommy and I came from Nigeria when I was just a baby. She is a nurse and she realized that something was not right with my heart and with the way I was developing. So she packed our bags and came to the United States where I had surgery to repair my heart defect. The surgery was a success, but she soon realized, after confirming the diagnosis of Down syndrome, that she would not be able to go back home to Nigeria and to my Dad. You see, Nigeria is a very beautifully country, but unfortunately it does not have services available to children who have Down syndrome. Services at ACDS are helping me to grow and reach my goals.

It has been three years since we left; I have not seen my Dad since then. He is a doctor in a big hospital and he is not allowed to come to visit me. I hope he can see these pictures of my school on the Internet and I hope we can be reunited very soon!
